Pratham Youth Summer Program

The Pratham Youth Summer Program is a 10-day immersive experience for students held in Aurangabad, India. It offers participants a unique opportunity to travel and participate in community service and cultural immersion at the Pratham Arora Centre for Education (PACE Centre).

The program is carefully crafted to provide young participants with the chance to engage directly with Pratham’s programs, take part in hands-on community activities, and witness the impact of our work firsthand. It’s an incredible opportunity to not only contribute to meaningful initiatives but also to gain valuable insights and experiences that will last a lifetime, plus instill confidence in young minds.
The 2025 Pratham Youth Summer Program will take place from July 21-August 1.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, please complete the provided application. Following an initial review, candidates will be shortlisted for interviews. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-approved basis.

What to Expect

Program participants will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of activities. They will:
  • Help Pratham vocational training students practice conversational English-speaking skills
  • Collaborate with local students on science experiments at a Pratham Science Centre
  • Exchange dance, music, art, and drama with local schoolchildren
  • Visit a government school to see Pratham curriculum in action and learn about Pratham’s ASER Survey
  • Tour the PACE Centre and learn about education and skill development needs in India
  • Learn about Indian history, culture, and Pratham’s work in education
  • Learn/Practice speaking Hindi and/or regional languages
  • Visit the Ellora Caves, Aurangzeb Tomb, Daulatabad Fort, Aurangabad City

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of Visa do participants need?

Pratham Staff will provide guidance with the Visa application process for any students for which a Visa is required. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

What is the Program Cost? What's included in the fee?

The program cost ($2,800 USD) includes food, accommodation, local transportation to program visits, local activities, and airport transfers from the Aurangabad airport to the PACE Centre. Please note that airfare is not included. Participants are responsible for booking and paying for their flights to and from Aurangabad.

Where will the participants stay?

The participants will stay at the PACE Centre, equivalent to a 3-star hotel in India. The center has AC, internet and hot water. The participants will stay in double rooms which they will share with fellow participants.

Does each participant need an adult chaperone?

No, the participants take part on their own in the program. Parents or guardians can choose to accompany their children on the journey to India. Participants will be supervised by Pratham staff and parent chaperones during their stay.

Will this program be offered again in 2025?

This Program will be offered between July 21st and August 1st, 2025 only.

Can a participant attend only part of the program?

No. Participants need to be present for the whole duration to get the most out of the program.

What meals will the participants get?

Food will be prepared daily onsite. A menu will be set in advance with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and accommodating any allergies or dietary restrictions.

How do the participants travel to the Pratham Centre?

Participants' families will arrange for their travel to Aurangabad. Pratham staff will suggest flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to the Aurangabad airport, and families can connect in advance to match travel plans if convenient. Once the student lands at the Aurangabad airport, a Pratham driver will meet them at baggage claim to bring them to the PACE Centre. All travel between arrival in Aurangabad and returning to the Aurangabad airport on departure day is managed by Pratham.

Do the participants need travel insurance?

Yes, all participants must have travel insurance for their trip.
